TomTom has kept their promise, to include as many features as possible in the iPhone application, that are already incorporated in their current PNDs.

HD Traffic is an In-App purchase and available in the UK, DE, NL, BE , CH.

Last winter it was significant how big the difference was of the KMs traffic jam reported by TomTom HD, compared to the official Public traffic service publications. Especially on February 1st there was in The Netherlands 107.5 hours (2628km) traffic being reported on TomTom HD Traffic. The longest jam was 88.5 km.

In this article we will install this feature and compare it with the current competition to see how they have traffic services as well for less money.

SHAPE Services has released another great idea. They must have been thinking, Apple is selling around 9 million iPhones per quarter now, that makes a lot of headsets. All these people use already some kind of communication tool on their Personal Computers at home, like Skype, so why not link the 2 together?

With Headset you are not wired to your PC anymore and you can enjoy the freedom of walking around the house when talking.

The app works with the following programs: MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo, Google Talk, AOL IM, ICQ, YouTube, Skype, MagicJack or any other VOIP program. The iPhone application works together with a Windows application called Mobiola, which can be downloaded for free.

The latest buzz sweeping the blogosphere concerns a rumor that the iPhone OS 4.0 MAY finally offer the ability to multitask.  Apple’s taken a lot of flack over the years for not offering what is probably the most basic of features in today’s computing environment. Johnny-Come-Latelys, like the Droid, who are trying to capitalize on the iPhone’s success by copying it are touting this prominently in their advertising.

ADR studios is reading my mind, design a new Pro iPhone for games with real controls when we need them. I have tested quite some iPhone games in the past, but still can’t get excited about the iPhone gaming experience. The latest disillusion was GTA for me. After being used to the Sony PS controller series as the ultimate game player, the touch controls just doesn’t seem to make much sense to me. Worse, I lost my interest in gaming since I have the iPhone.

MobileCrunch published just another cool iPhone 4G concept. Not only is the exterior design cool but also the screen designs are stunning. It reminds me a bit of the latest and meanest HTC that I had in my hands a few days ago. I specially liked the animating weather app on the front, it was showing rain and sometimes the windscreen wipers cleaned the screen.

Finally Mobile Maps Europe version 8.0.1 has been delivered. It was already announced mid last month but was delayed because of a technical iTunes issue. This is the biggest update to date and a very welcome one, to keep Sygic in the top of the GPS apps market. Here is what they have to say;

The more the winter is loosing its cold grip on Europe, the more the unveiling of the new iPhone 4G is nearing. We have already been speculating about coming iPhones. One prediction was a cheaper iPhone in February, I guess we can strike that one out from the rumor list after next week.

A new rumor surfaced in the beginning of the month about a HD video codec found in the latest SDK and some other rumor evidence about new iPhone 4G parts have been found last week.
