A German court suspended a trial in which Apple alleged that Samsung Electronics copied the slide-to-unlock technology of its iPhone and iPad devices pending the outcome of a separate suit.
The regional court in Mannheim, Germany, said on Friday it would wait for a decision in ongoing proceedings in a Munich court over the feature, which allows users to switch on a device by swiping over the touch-screen.

MUNICH - Apple’s German arm has been forced to stop automatically alerting iPhone users when they receive an email after it lost a patent battle to Motorola.
It is being viewed as a significant development as it is the first time that the smartphone industry’s high-stakes patents wars have affected iPhone users directly by restricting the capabilities of their handset.

Apple’s iPhone 4 was the most acquired phone in both the USA and the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK) according to a February 23 report by analysts comScore.
The comScore report found that over the past year Apple’s iPhone 4, the original model of which was released June 28, 2010, was the most acquired device in the United States and the EU5.
