A few days ago, we reported here that Waze was released in the App Store. The Turn-by-Turn GPS application uses crowd sourcing technologies to make your daily driving experience a bit better and quicker.
In my first report I told you about a not so successful attempt to use the app. This was indeed the growing pains of the release date, too many users trying to connect at the same time. A few days later the app started working fine for me, and I could see user reports about traffic jams and police reports. I noticed that the app was used a lot in The Netherlands and some other countries around me in Belgium. I sometimes fire up the app and start munching roads.
Waze contacted us today with the great news that their app is already updated with the following cool features (and checkout the funny video!);
- iPod integration - play you music from within waze! (supporting song seek backward / forward by long click on the RW/FF buttons)
- Navigate to contacts book addresses
- Landscape view
- View travel directions as a list
- Clickable wazers on map
- Preference for munching-intensive routes
- Hide top bar
- wazer nearby: indicator shows where the closest wazer is, when not visible on map.
- Some UI tweaks
- Help menu changes
- Fix auto day/night display
- Cellular location bug fix
- Fix volume controls for 3.1
- Search address - add to favorites bug fix
Social and cool fun stuff;
- High score road goodies
- Nearby wazer pop up
- Wazer details, rank and points
- Crowns for high-scoring area managers
We are looking forward to check this out and report it back to you guys.
