Charlie Mallow upgraded his iPhone the latest iPhone firmware 3.0 and reviewed it

Can we honestly say that the 3.0 iPhone experience is near perfect?

Let’s answer that question right up front, Apple’s 3.0 iPhone firmware release has finally made the device near perfect. Features such as notifications, a search function, tethering, MMS functionality, and enhanced code to allow new software development like turn by turn GPS, as well as “copy and paste” have pushed the iPhone out in front of the pack again.

I want to tell you about all the wonderful features the new 3.0 firmware update has given iPhone users. By now you know how much quicker and more functional an iPhone has become.  There is one thing missing for me now, a perfect device deserves a perfect carrier as well.

iPhone US news

I wanted to dig deep and discuss functionality that mattered to business users like tethering. I wanted to tell you how Apple fixed a major hole by giving you an option like MMS functionality. I’m sorry but, I can’t tell you how either feature works, as you are probably aware, the only US carrier AT&T is unable to provide a service good enough to support that functionality. I’m sorry but for as advanced and revolutionary the iPhone is, we in the US are handicapped by a phone company that is unable to keep up with Apple’s platform development.

Apple has locked us into using AT&T for a carrier, if we want the privilege of using an iPhone. I would like to tell you about fantastic GPS applications that guide you on hikes but, I can’t get a network connection in any place one would go on a hike. I would like to tell you about strong music streaming apps that make CDs and satellite radios in your car a thing of the past but, I can’t keep a network connection all the way to work. I would like to tell you how wonderful picture sharing apps like ShoZu that allow us to share moments with our friends and family but, it just takes too long to download pictures before people lose interest. I would like to brag about visual voicemail and voice dial apps like “VoiceBoxDial” and “Say Who” but, I can’t depend on my network for those apps to be functional. I would like to explain how having YouTube, Twitter and Facebook in your pocket can change your life but, I don’t have the time to wait for them to download content.

iPhones in the US are handicapped by a company that tries to limit the functionality of our devices to save bandwidth.  AT&T charges top shelf rates for their service and provides cheap bottled wine. Now that iPhones have become as close to perfect as possible, there is an upgrade that users crave more than any other, a choice of phone carriers. I want the market to determine which provider deserves my business. It is time for Apple to dump AT&T and open things up so; I can use my device as intended.

Sounds fair to me, we here in Belgium have unlocked iPhones and can choose provider, so why not in the U.S.A.???

Even we pay premium prices, I paid 675 euros (951.41 U.S. dollars) today for the 32GB version, but better that then an expensive carrier lock-in. Liberty and freedom of choise are worth paying for.

Dear Steve, listen to your customers this time, please?!
