Google and Apple sitting in a tree. Over iPhone GPS data? We don’t know, but we can dream.

It’s never been a secret that Apple and Google have been making eyes at each other for ages. The two companies interact favorably and have a good public and private relationship. So, when Google CEO Eric Schmidt said on Monday that the two companies were working together on “many more” projects,” it simultaneously didn’t surprise us at all and titillated us.

RIM: iPhone is no threat to Blackberry

Traditionally Blackberrys - the corporate appendage du jour - have been black. Apart from a brief moment when they were blue.

So it’s perhaps significant, then, that when Mike Lazaridis, the co-chief executive of RIM, which makes them, arrives to discuss the company’s shift into a more consumer-friendly line of products, a sleek, white model - not yet released in the UK - is pushed across the table.

This is the Dawning of the Age of Apple

We have all heard about the “iPod halo effect” where iPod owners increasingly are buying Apple (AAPL) computers. Well, it appears that the iPhone has kicked that effect into high gear. First, Pacific Crest Securities has used NPD data to claim that Apple computer unit sales are up 101% year over year, with revenue up 108%. That is a a lot of Mac and MacBook business goodness that we can relate to; we were responsible for three MacBook and MacBook Pro purchases ourselves in that period.

iPhone to make VoIP calls?

The iPhone will be capable of making voice over IP (VoIP) calls using the Jajah Mobile Web service, it has been claimed.
A website this morning published a news item, describing the link between Apple’s new phone and its service as “kind of official”.

It seems Jajah’s Mobile Web service will allow iPhone and smartphone owners to make these calls from within the mobile’s built-in web browser to any number in the world - no software download is required.
