Component makers scramble for iPhone contracts
The Times has published an in-depth look at the deep competition between components vendors to persuade Apple to use their products within the iPhone.
The report, ‘The battle for the heart of the iPhone’ states the evident reality that technology firms know that getting their parts used in Apple’s must-have mobile phone will be good for business and revenue.

Most phones are worthless, iPhone is worth $500
Apple have described most free mobile phones as worthless and are convinced people will pay at least $500 for the iPhone in a statement this week.
Apple Chief Operating officer Timothy Cook was discussing the price of an iPhone at a tech conference in Las Vegas and was scathing about the phones being handed out for free in the US.

Apple TV shipments delayed by one month
The first arrival date, of my ordered Apple TV was this saturday 3 March. Now the web store is showing me: expected arrival date is 2 April. For me this is not just a half month delay, no it is an awfully long full month of waiting and waiting and waiting.

Apple Inc., has delayed the launch of its Apple TV set-top box until the middle of March. The device, which will cost around £199, was expected to be available in the US in February. The company has not given a reason for the postponement.

Goldman Bullish On Apple’s iPhone

The iPhone says hello during the oscars
In a sign that this was either a deadly dull Oscars ceremony—do we really need to take up about four hours of air time to come to the conclusion that The Departed was a pretty good movie—or that Apple needs to ship something, anything, even if it’s just an Apple-branded mood ring, Apple’s iPhone teaser ad has been viewed and reviewed more thoroughly than the Zapruder film.

3G iPhone on track for early ‘08?
It seems that a common theme in dialog regarding the iPhone has become, “I’ll wait for version 2, thank you very much.” The sentiment makes sense in some ways; after all, the first-gen model lacks key goodness (3G radio, open platform, removable battery), not to mention the fact that companies frequently fail to get the first version of anything perfectly spot-on.

Apple will use the Academy Awards show on Sunday to feature a new teaser advertisement focused on the iPhone, Macworld has learned. The new ad was described as being made for the Oscars, although no further details on the content of ad were available.
