GPS Manufacturer Magellan has emailed its newsletter subscribers that from today on you can re-order their iPhone Car Kit. Something noteworthy is the compatibility with the iPod Touch 2nd generation because the “iTouch” doesn’t have a GPS receiver chip.

The Kit supports the Magellan Road Mate 2010 GPS application and also the other GPS apps. We reviewed the first edition of Road Mate 2010 here, but note that in the mean time version 1.1 is available since yesterday, with a lot of improvements and some new features.

A few days ago, we have published the un-boxing and presentation of the TomTom car kit. We also tested the compatibility of the car kit with the first generation iPhone models; iPhone (1G/2G/EDGE) and the GPS navigation application TomTom Western Europe 1.1. Now, it’s time to publish the road test results with a combination of 2G, 3G and 3GS iPhones.

For you guys that don’t know Waze yet, let me tell you that it’s an increasingly popular (iPhone) Turn-byTurn Voice guided GPS application that uses crowd-sourcing to build the maps. That basically means that you have to participate to make it all to a big success.

You can munch roads, which means that your cursor will look like a Pacman car where you’re munching new roads where nobody has been before. After your trip you will see the road on their website where you can add useful information, that will be beneficial for the whole Waze community. The developers at Waze are taking the application to the next level were some cool features are added in the next 24 hours.

The first snow is falling, the holidays are starting and as a consequence there will be lot of traffic on the snowy slippery European roads in the coming weeks. Did you change to winter tires already? Accidents and big traffic jams are likely to happen, so make sure to pack along with your skis, your iPhone charged with Navigon MobileNavigator and its fantastic traffic feature.

Like reported earlier, several other local EU editions are already in version 1.4.0, and the full Europe edition was the last one still stuck in version 1.3.0.
