Win a GPS app of choice - iPhoneTunes Traffic photo contest
Brussels, Robin Bollen // Sept 18, 2009.
The traffic picture I published here yesterday, inspired me to make a iPhone photo contest. Because we are reviewing and writing lately about GPS applications, the subject is Traffic. Many of us iPhone users are daily on the road, stuck in traffic or walking with our beloved uber-gadget.
Well, next time you are on the road with your iPhone, and see something interesting to shoot about traffic, publish it to our Flickr group iPhoneTunes Traffic. And maybe you win a GPS app of choice (Navigon, TomTom, Sygic, iGO, CoPilot or Gmap).
Sounds simple? Indeed.

CoPilot Live Scandinavia and G-Map UK & Ireland released
Brussels, Daniel and Robin // Sept 18, 2009.
As predicted in our previous article CoPilot Live - France and D-A-Ch Edition released about updates of CoPilot Live, ALK has released today the Edition for the Scandinavian countries, CoPilot Live Scandinavia. The app is selling for only € 33,99.
The application contains updated maps and full streets of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Also announced is that the next updates will include a QWERTY keyboard, warning radars, intelligent call management and enhanced GPS performance.
The map technology of NAVTEQ is used, which is also utilized by Navigon and iGO My way. We predict that ALK will most likely release a new edition for Australia and New Zealand in the near future.

Novell releases iPhone .Net development kit
New York, Tony Karakashian // Sept 18, 2009.
Finally! No more reviewing apps, now I can write ‘em! Novell (they’re still around?) has released MonoTouch. This is a software development kit that will allow a developer to write iPhone applications using C# and .Net. As someone who works 100% in the Windows space and is very familiar with both, this is very exciting news.

I admit, I took a look at iPhone development a few months ago and gave up very quickly. Objective-C has its benefits, I’m sure, but it’s a bear to learn. Being able to use something that’s more familiar, not to mention allows me to retain and enhance skills I already have, is a huge boon.

Navigon announces Traffic Live Service for MobileNavigator
Brussels, Robin Bollen // Sept 17, 2009.
Navigon AG has just announced the Traffic Live Service for the iPhone. They claim to be the first vendor who brings live accidents to the platform, although ALK’s CoPilot Live has published in iTunes that they offer this service this month already.
MobileNavigator Trafiic Live Service works like this: When planning a route or during your journey, the software takes the current traffic reports into account and will compute an alternative route for you,so you can reach you destination faster. The traffic reports are updated every few minutes so you can be guided correctly very fast.

CoPilot Live North America update released
Brussels, Robin Bollen // Sept 17, 2009.
Yesterday CoPilot Live NA has been updated in the App Store. The announced new features have been delivered.
Now the maps have been updated, I have read forums where some people were complaining about not-up-to-date maps, so this should be rechecked with this new version. To me it is not clear if the map data still comes from ALK or from NAVTEQ like the EU Edititon. Dial a Point of Interest is now possible. This was already active in the Europe Edition.
Another important update is improved GPS performance and last but not least the app auto-restarts after income phone calls.
We will test the new features anytime soon and let you know the results here, or update the last review.

New iPhone viewable How-To site published by Apple
New York, Tony Karakashian // Sept 12, 2009.
It was just about a year ago that I got my iPhone. I remember all too well the joy of fiddling around with everything and trying out all of the features. As an engineer, I almost never read manuals. While it’s fun to figure out how to use something on its own, it’s also nice sometimes to have it all spelled out for you. Apple’s got a great howto site that gives you instructions on how to use every feature of your spiffy bit of high technology.
If you’re a new iPhone owner, or if you’ve had yours for a while, this is a great resource. Even people like me who think they’ve seen it all will find new things.

TomTom updates finally announced
Brussels, Robin Bollen // Sept 11, 2009.
TomTom was the only GPS app producer in the iTunes App Store that kept silent for so long time, about possible updates and improvements for the next release.
Navigon has done this here, Sygic also listened very fast to it’s customers, iGO My way gave us some exclusive content and even CoPilot Live already mentioned the updates. Well that all has changed. TomTom has posted a reaction to the customer base on iTunes.

It reads as follows;
On 17 August 2009 TomTom launched its first navigation solution for iPhone and it’s been very well received…

iPhoneTunes review: Sygic NA VS CoPilot Live NA
New York, Tony Karakashian // Sept 11, 2009.
I had been very much looking forward to trying out CoPilot from ALK Technologies. ALK has a long history of providing GPS navigation on other smartphone platforms, so this wasn’t a new fish in the growing sea. The reviews I’d read online were absolutely mixed on their products, this iPhone version of CoPilot especially. You either loved it or hated. I had considered writing a full review of the product, but in the end I’d spend most of the time comparing it Sygic, so following the format of Robin’s original TomTom vs navigon let’s put ‘em to the test.

Fixing iPhone error 13019 when syncing with iTunes 8.2:Resolution
Please update to iTunes 9. If updating to iTunes 9 does not resolve the issue, please continue:
The error will most commonly occur while syncing music. This issue can be resolved by following these steps:
1.Select the iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes under Devices.
2.Click the Music tab and under the Sync music option, choose Selected playlists.
3.Deselect the Voice Memos playlist.
4.Click Apply and then click Sync.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, check the device and the iTunes library for duplicate voice memos. If you find any duplicate voice memos, delete the duplicates and then sync.
If those steps do not resolve the issue, then follow these steps:
1.Select the iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes under Devices.
2.Click the Music tab and deselect the Sync Music option.
3.Click Apply and then click Sync.
4.After the sync is complete, reselect the Sync Music option.
5.Click Apply and then click Sync.
If the Error 13019 occurs while syncing content other than music (applications, podcasts, and so on), then perform the same steps above but uncheck the content that stops syncing with Error 13019.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, attempt to sync an empty iTunes music library to the device while logged in as a new admin user. Follow these steps to create a new admin user:
