Listen up, iPhone coders, NSBundle is your friend. It lets you look in your main .app bundle and retrieve files without hardcoding paths. Avoid “/Application/MyProg.app/foo.png” and replace your absolute references with relative ones. This lets your users install your applications wherever they wish.

One thing that lacked was a removable disk option for the iPhone. Its absence was a means to deter hackers from gaining access to the core of the device so easily but all of that has changed. Erica Sadun reports that a developer going by the handle “Core” has implemented AFP for the iPhone, this opens up a world of possibilities.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m one of those people who loves it when my computer grabs stats on what I’m up to (though I’m not so much on the whole reporting to other companies thing-- I’d prefer to keep my activities to myself).

This is a funny and clever way to ‘capture’ your Contacts. Use your iPhone to take pictures of your contacts pressed up against a glass window or door. The photos will look like you have them trapped inside your iPhone!

The iPhone has since mad a big hit on the market when it came out last June 2007. Many users and technologically advance hackers have tried to break it down and see how they can improvise it or get more from it than it is supposed to offer. They have even compiled several websites worth of tip and tricks to help iPhone users get the hang of their highly innovated mobile phone and multimedia gadget in one.

Wouldn’t it be great to walk into someone’s house or office and get his Mac to play the songs on your iPhone or iPod Touch remotely on his big speakers?

TUAW reports that it’s possible. All you need do is install an app called Firefly on your iPhone or iPod Touch, let it build your mobile music database and you’re good to go.

I could not cover this hidden bug/feature in iPhone Firmware 1.1.1 until I quit Apple, due to the nature of exploitation. Now that I am not associated with Apple I can finally publish this.

In case you can’t read the linked Japanese site, here are the steps you can take to enable the Japanese keyboard from inside Safari. Once enabled, the keyboard will remain activated for the rest of Safari session. Unfortunately, this hack does not work outside of Safari.

Though we’re still searching for a way to delete multiple email messages from the iPhone simultaneously, an enterprising developer has now developed a native third-party application that will allow you to delete individual SMS text messages instead of simply clearing conversations (the iPhone’s only option, by default), which will delete all text messages with a given contact.

When I heard last week that Gmail is getting IMAP support, I was excited. My life was going to get a little easier. And how hard could it be to set up? Change a couple of settings in Apple Mail and I’d be good to go, right?

It hasn’t quite worked out that way.

If you want to make your iPhone feel more yours, and I don’t mean by just hacking it, you could take a page from Mark Hoekstra’s book. He modified his iPhone to be all black, super slick, and sporting an old-school Apple logo. It’s hot.

For the paranoid among us:

Those of you who’ve bit the bullet and sprung for an iPod Touch (or an iPhone) and are concerned about the screen issue that has come up (faulty rendering of blacks and all) but can’t tell if your new toy is one of the defective ones, or if you’re just worried about stuck or dead pixels like we all are, there is a free online test that you can use to detect any problems. (Would that there were more of these free and useful things around, huh?)

So Google has decided to be a pioneer, again, and give away free IMAP support for your equally free GMail account. Why is this a big deal? Organization is easier with IMAP support because all of your tagged emails will convert into folders made from those tags, and your emails will be sorted into those folders, making it easier, and quicker, to find what you are looking for.

We examine and assess the features in the iPhone’s software update

There’s more to last month’s iPhone 1.1.1 software update than just bricked phones and blocked apps. The software update for Apple’s mobile phone added several fixes and features—most notably support for the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store—but many of those changes were drowned out by the clamor over disabling unlocked iPhones and third-party applications.

As spacious as the iPhone’s screen is, you’ll have to zoom in quite a bit to read text. Instead of pinching to zoom in, the iPhone has a special feature that makes this very easy to do.

bonjour at TUAWSee this picture? It’s a picture of my iPod touch. But here is the interesting thing. The picture you see is actually a screen shot from my iPod touch. As you can see from the iPod logo, it has no on-board camera. Instead, it’s subscribed to a Bonjour service on my iPhone and using its camera instead to take a picture of itself.

smsHaving used the iPhone for some testing, I saw that some SMSes corrupted the database file and the SMS app no longer worked. It would simply quit when I tried to open the SMS. The Apple suggested way to fix this problem would be to reset the iPhone by using the Settings » General » Reset » Erase all Content and Settings. But this would mean that you would have to resync your iPhone again. The easiest way I have found to do this is as follows.

2. Pirateas tu iPhone con Winpwn o Pwnage Tool. Después entras en Installer o Cydia y algún juego encontrarás.

Saludos.
